34% of North Americans have some form of Disability

 

Twenty (20%) percent of all Americans, which translates to 60 million people, and Fourteen (14%), or 4.4 million, of Canadians have some form of disability that requires special consideration for the dental practice.  
The key is to recognize that ninety five (95%) of people who have a disabilities don’t show it ( or it is not visible). Disabilities come in all forms of Visual, Hearing, Learning and Developmental.  
Below are some simple tips to help with management and care of patients with disability.

GENERAL TIPS:
•    Speak directly to the client, not to the support person, guide or interpreter.
